If you live in Atlanta, there is a good chance you read the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, or “AJC” for short, at some point in time. After all, it’s the city’s only major daily newspaper. Headquartered in Dunwoody, the paper has been around in some form since 1868, and it has a circulation of over 230,000 people during the week and 644,000 on Sundays. The paper is made up of four sections: a main page, which features Georgia, national, and world news; the Metro section with local news; Sports; and Living, which covers items like recipes, comics, puzzles, movie and book reviews, and human interest stories.
Gwinnett Daily Post
When it comes to suburban newspapers in Atlanta’s metro area, the Gwinnett Daily Post is one of the biggest. Though it has undergone many changes since its founding in 1970, it remains Gwinnett County’s number one newspaper. It covers local and state news, sports, weather, obituaries, and a Marketplace that helps people find everything from restaurants to chiropractors in the area.
Marietta Daily Journal
While the Gwinnett Daily Post may be one of the biggest papers in the eastern metro area, the Marietta Daily Journal is one of the biggest in the western metro area. It’s also one of the oldest newspapers in the Atlanta area and has a circulation of around 17,000. Founded in 1866, it covers local, national, and international news.
Creative Loafing
Creative Loafing has served the city since 1972, and today, it has a circulation of over 80,000. The alternative weekly paper has a hip vibe, and it covers political stories and local news. It is most popular, however, for its arts, food, and entertainment coverage.
